Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the potential benefit of successive interference cancellation (SIC) in high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA). We explore the possibility of improving the performance of HSUPA by introducing the SIC and we also bring forward a novel scheduling method named effective power-based load control (EPBLC) to extend its advantage. Finally we give the conclusion that with SIC and EPBLC, we can get 43%-56% throughput gain under different interference cancellation efficiency.
