Abstract :
In this paper, we introduce a new approach to schedule interference-free transmissions in wireless networks. We consider a joint scheduling and network coding problem in wireless multicast networks to maximize the throughput. The new approach for scheduling is based on bundling together the interference-free links with similar capacities in the same network realization. For the tested networks, the proposed scheduling results in 14% improvement in average throughput compared to the existing schedules, where the realizations are selected only to prevent interference without taking into account the difference in link capacities. The throughput improvement for some networks is as large as 23%.
