Abstract :
An important challenge in identifying a seismic event is to specify its signal features. The time-varying features of a real time-sampled seismic signal are represented and characterized via the chirplet transform. A time-varying spectrogram template based on the chirplet transform of an underground nuclear explosion is built. The nonstationary template makes the recognition of seismic events (earthquakes and underground nuclear explosions) effortless.
