Abstract :
we propose a new method, the multilayer holographic data storage with the application of a confocal spatial filter in the readout system. The main advantage of this method compared to multilayer digital storage is the less critical servo requirements, as the hologram diameter exceeds the diameter of a bit datum. The second advantage is that multilayer confocal holographic storage enables a more effective suppression of the noise scattered by the out of focus layers as it is discussed in this paper.
