Abstract :
In this paper we have present our results on three different types of nonlinear all-optical switches which of all relied on the properties of a single Bragg grating. The first switch utilised gap soliton formation resulting in self-induced transparency. The second switch was an all-optical ´AND´ gate using two orthogonally polarised input pulses and had a contrast ratio of 17dB. The last switch showed that it was possible to alter the transmission of a weak probe by a high intensity pump and is particularly suited to WDM applications
