Abstract :
It is shown that the time-domain-finite-difference (TD-FD) approach is capable of calculating microstrip end-effects over a large frequency range. A numerical example is calculated using an open-ended microstrip on alumina substrate. Plots of the time-domain fields are presented and the one-port scattering parameter is derived, establishing the validity of the TD-FD method in modeling circuit components for MMIC CAD (monolithic microwave integrated-circuit computer-aided design) applications.<>
