Abstract :
This study focuses on the frequency dynamics in diode lasers due to an external robust control mechanism called filtered optical feedback (FOF). This study also enumerates the advantages of FOF over conventional optical feedback and demonstrates the interplay between the nonlinear response of the filter, and the α-parameter of the laser, to induce novel dynamics in the frequency of light from the laser. Finally, the influence of quantum noise on the FOF dynamics induced in a laser diode is discussed. Novel aspects of noise-induced dynamics, with special attention to shot noise and its important role in determining laser dynamics are also emphasized.
