Abstract :
This paper proposes a method of the relay settings of protective relay coordination for Micro-grid using modified particle swarm optimization algorithm. The key issue in selecting the relay settings is to achieve the minimum possible operating times while maintaining coordination among all relays. The relay coordination problem is solved by improving the initialization and weight of PSO algorithm and choosing pickup current suitable, the premature convergence problem is avoided. The optimal settings of the relays are determined using the PSO algorithm. The study shows that the results using the MPSO algorithm are close to optimal solutions, and demonstrates the validity of the proposed method.
