Abstract :
Substation automation has been used in China for almost 30 years ago. In 1994, co-ordinated substation control was introduced and was quickly adopted to meet the needs of the rapidly expanding Chinese electrical power network. By the end of the 1990s, the technology has matured and many completely decentralised 220 and 500 kV coordinated substation control systems are in commercial operation. The bay oriented concept is fundamental to the design of co-ordinated substation control systems. This paper examines some of the issues related to the features and functions of the bay management units used in bay-oriented designs
