Abstract :
The Utility Communication Architecture or UCA had its origins in 1990 as the framework for the ensemble of communication requirements that exist in the utility enterprise. Since 1993, there has been a focus on the application of UCA in the substation. This paper details the hardware and software considerations, issues encountered, and benefits obtained by the authors and others in implementing the substation profile of UCA in a digital device
