Abstract :
This paper describes the development of a network-based simulation system for protective relay algorithms. Since built-in protective function modules of commercial power system simulation software which have many application areas may not be enough to analyse the behaviour of a protective relay or not to be used for educational purpose. Moreover, entire system should be constructed to simulate and validate a single device such as a protective relay. The proposed system which consists of a server-side relay model and a user interface provides network-based test environment for a protective relay and enables user to focus on a development of protective relaying algorithm itself.
