Abstract
This paper describes some of the design issues related to the nonlinear CAD of Active Antenna Elements performing a transmission function. The use of the transmission line patch resonator model for dual intrinsic impedance matching and resonator functions and its incorporation into a nonlinear circuit simulation tool is described. Comparison of the results of this model with those obtained from commercial Electromagnetic Field Mapping Software are provided also. Synthesis techniques in the frequency domain are described and are augmented with analysis in the time domain. Applications of the resulting active antenna element structure include, for a single element, direct PSK modulation and demodulation and, for multiple elements, phase steerable array systems
