Abstract
A novel single ended fault location method is presented that can estimate the fault location using only the transient currents. The method is unique in that superimposed voltage transients are deduced from the transient currents without employing measurements taken directly from the voltage transducers. Results, using recorded transients from events on a 400 kV transmission system, are given to demonstrate the potential of this scheme
