Abstract :
The carbon nanotubes and fullerenes are the key structures of the modern nanotechnology and advanced infotechnology. A short history of relevant research is given including the generally unknown publications from 1950-ies. As a practical study problem the modeling results obtained with ab-initio software VASP for an armchair-zigzag nanotube junction (4,4)/(8,0) are discussed.
