Abstract :
It is still a challenging work for face recognition to deal with changes due to long term aging. Other than the complicated method using aging models to compensate the aging effect on face recognition, we use the age estimation result as a clue for the database retrieval. The age difference of input image and registered database image is estimated, and then it is used to limit the range of database retrieval and weight the recognition score for sorting. We show that the age estimation results can be used to improve the face recognition accuracy when long term aging effects are necessary to be considered.
