Abstract :
Microwave applicators can be used to propagate electromagnetic waves through biological media for heat elevation in specified regions. In this paper, the microwave applicator type is an aperture antenna. A group of apertures is placed around the model and they are fed by different amplitudes and phases forming a circular phased aperture antenna (CPAA). The aim is to determine the specific absorption rate (SAR) inside the simulated neck model which consists of fat and muscle regions. The equivalence principle method is applied to determine the electric field inside the muscle region in terms of the current densities at the boundary of muscle, then SAR can be obtained. The relation between the position of the maximum value of SAR and the amplitudes and phases of the CPAA elements is obtained and tabulated
