Abstract
Maturation and proliferation of radio frequency identification (RFID) and Web technologies has paved way for convergence of these hitherto separate technological branches. Near field communication (NFC), a derivative of RFID, has been introduced in mobile phones to enable short-range contactless identification in consumer services. Coming of age of Internet has brought along several fully fledged and standardized technologies, including JavaScript, CSS, DOM, and XML, for development of interactive and responsive browser applications, referred to as rich internet applications (RIA). In this paper we present and evaluate a framework for integration of NFC and rich Internet applications.
