Abstract :
A novel method for calibration of dielectric capacitors is proposed using a commercial high resolution and high bandwidth impedance meter as a comparison device and high bandwidth four terminal pair standard resistors. The advantage of the method is that no sophisticated nor custom-built equipment needs to be used to achieve high accuracy and high frequency bandwidth coverage. The method is simple to apply once the measurements and calculations are automated and the influencing parameters properly evaluated. The calculated measurement uncertainties are better than 1 ·10-4 both for capacitance and dissipation factor confirmed by the agreement found with results obtained through other procedures
