Abstract :
This Non-Photorealistic Rendering(NPR)has become a hot research topic in computer graphics from the mid-90s of the 20th century, which is a research field combined with the computer technology and the painting. This paper mainly researched the painting style non-photorealistic rendering based on image, and by far there are two processing methods based on image: artistic media simulation and the simulation with processing of artistic creation. In this paper, combining these two rendering methods to create a art work with the painting style and design software to achieve this rendering processing. It segmented the input image according to user-defined level and then smoothed the split result, and extracted the skeleton from these processed regions, which would be used to produce the stroke, finally generated painting style image by the stroke. The last software operation results show that realistic images can be converted into a satisfactory painting style image by the rendering method designed in this paper.
