Abstract :
This paper presents a feasibility study of the use of permanent magnets for the purpose of self exciting a variable reluctance generator. A suggested concept for evaluation is the use of a permanent magnet material extended axially on the stator core, but separated from the magnetic material stack by an insulator. As a part of this study electric and magnetic analyses on candidate concepts have been performed
