Abstract :
Introducing micro combined heat and power (μCHP) technology into residential energy systems could offer several advantages over traditional systems. Introducing an appropriate operating strategy for such a technology could increase its benefits. A model of a μCHP system, from the authors´ previous work, has been improved and used to evaluate alternative operating strategies for μCHP units in residential buildings in terms of annual cumulative operation costs and CO2 emissions. Results have shown that operating strategies have a significant effect on operation costs and CO2 emissions.
