Abstract :
This paper presents design and analysis of DC linear motor with permanent magnet excitation for aircraft launcher application. The detailed calculation of the motor performance is described. The main advantage of this system is removing of electronic switches and replacing it with a modified brush and commutator system. The rectangular permanent magnets and coils and coreless and ironless stator are used to achieve maximum output with minimum losses. 2D finite element and analytical methods are operated for electromagnetic field calculations.
