Abstract
The paper presents an open examination method of student assessment. Among its main benefits are higher motivation of students and teaching staff, improved quality of student learning, reduced staff load. The method has been successfully tried in undergraduate teaching of engineering subjects in Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore and Massey University, New Zealand
