Abstract :
This paper demonstrates the latest Smart Grid and Demand Response pilot projects results and achievements in UAE. It also identifies the challenges that require the introduction of Smart Grid, the investigation of the life cycle cost/benefits, the analysis of Smart Grid deployments and finally, to define the road map of Smart Grid and the pillars to achieve the required smartness. The deliverable of this study addresses the future technology of Smart Grid in terms of road map, action plan, and recommendations to achieve Smart Grid objectives. Initial results show that by applying demand response initiatives it could reduce the annual peak demand by 8.5% or more.
