Abstract :
The use of resistive loading to improve the performance of a conical monopole is investigated. This antenna is analyzed and optimized using the finite-different time-domain (FDTD) method. The magnitude of the electric field surrounding the antenna at three different instants of time is shown. The radiation produced by the reflection at the top of the perfectly conducting antenna is clearly shown, and its elimination by the resistive loading of the optimized antenna is evident.<>
