Abstract
A number of numerical methods have been developed for solving Maxwell´s equations, with dispersion analysis being the standard method of studying the accuracy of discrete wave propagation methods. Typical skewed mesh dispersion results have been obtained for the quadrilateral mesh methods described by R. Holland (1983). Several different triangle-based schemes are examined. Three different discretizations are compared: a Voronoi mesh finite-difference technique, the modified finite-volume method and the discrete surface integral technique. The results obtained indicate that there is no clear-cut reason based on dispersion errors to prefer the triangle-based schemes considered to the quadrilateral methods (or vice versa).<>
