Abstract
The design and implementation of robust controllers for a class of AC servo drives, the permanent magnet synchronous motor drives, are investigated. By suitably modifying the dynamic model for permanent synchronous motor drives, H 2 and H ∞ optimal control techniques can be applied to the design of servo controllers. A multiprocessor-based fully digital control system has been constructed for experimentally verifying controller performance. The results demonstrate the applicability of frequency-domain optimization techniques in designing high-performance servomechanisms for use in manufacturing automation
