Abstract :
In this article we present results of studies of dynamics of molecular reorientation with the use of Optical Kerr Effect (OKE) in a new organometallic ruthenium-acetylide complex containing azobenzene fragment. The samples of thin films of organometallic complex casted on glass plates were excited by the chopped cw laser (¿ = 532 nm, P = 20 mW ) or pulsed nanosecond Nd:YAG laser (¿ = 532 nm, E = 100 ¿j) and photoinduced birefringence has been measured at ¿ = 632.8 nm. It is shown that in this material dynamic reorientation of molecules is taking place. We also report on observation of surface relief structure induced by single beam in this ruthenium-acetylide complex.
