Abstract :
TCP has been shown to perform poorly in wireless environments in terms of throughput due to the inherent nature of wireless links. In this paper, we propose a Snoop-Based TCP Enhancements Scheme with Forced Duplicate Acknowledgement-(STE-FDA) over wireless cellular network, which combine both of Snoop-like TCP enhancements and the Forced Duplicate Acknowledgement (FDA) congestion control scheme at the base stations of a cellular network. We also conduct a comparative study between the STE-FDA scheme and Active Queue Management (AQM) scheme, comparing STE-FDA against the traditional AQM schemes such as Random Early Detection (RED) scheme to ascertain whether it can maintain the same performance as RED within wireless network of varied characteristics. The numerical results demonstrate that the proposed STE-FDA significantly outperforms RED in wireless cellular network, especially under high-error-rate which is a major characteristic of wireless links.
