Abstract :
Using a commercially available diode pumped Nd:YAG microchip laser (λ = 1064 nm, 12 μJ, 0.6 ns, ∼7 kHz repetition rate) positioned outside the test vacuum chamber and focused to a 20 μm spot on the target using a 24 mm doublet lens, mass spectra from several metals, mineral glasses, mineral standards and meteorites are obtained.
