Abstract :
Forward-thinking cities are moving to deploy high-bandwidth wireless networks to support government workers, local businesses and residents. In this paper, we propose a WiFi and WiMAX interworked secure wireless city (SWC) architecture. Based on this SWC architecture, user authentication in conjunction with extensible authentication protocol is presented. Meanwhile, an authentication prototype is also developed. In addition, the seamless connectivity requirements of using SWC are mentioned as well. Adopting SWC can not only significantly spread the coverage area of deploying wireless cities, but also can enhance the uses of secure mobile applications, ultimately providing research directions for constructing advanced ubiquitous society.
