  • Abstract
Switched reluctance motor, which is robust with high torque ratio and excellent performance, is becoming a competitive replacement for induction motor drives. Tlhe simiplified converter topology with unipolar currents of SRM eliminates the problems of shoot through faults and makes the control circuitry simple. A new converter topology is proposed in this paper. A sensor less circuit with SEPIC working as Power Factor Preregulator (PFP) is used to improve the power factor. The advantage of better current regulation and high power factor with simplified gate circuit is achieved at low cost. The proposed converter is suitable for DC and AC low power and high power applications.
