  • Abstract
The application of distributed processing techniques to the study of wave scattering is described. A SUN SPARCstation is used as the host station. Two 80486 and two 80386 personal computers are connected to the SPARCstation through a 10-Mb/s Ethernet local area network. A load scheduling protocol has been developed, which hides all details in implementing the distributed network. The sequential algorithm for determining the induced currents and charges is written in C++ language using object-oriented programming techniques. The method of moments is used to develop an algorithm for determining the scattering of a prescribed incident electromagnetic wave by a given conducting body. At the present stage, the authors have not accomplished the aim of fully utilizing the combined processing power of all computers because it is very difficult to develop a schedule where all computers are working at all times. Given more experience in task scheduling and job partitioning, it is believed that this aim is achievable.<>
