Abstract
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are being deployed in many scenarios for environment monitoring. The UbiSens project aims to achieve low power wireless sensor nodes by efficiently partitioning computation between the various processing elements. The various considerations in system design for low power sensor nodes are enumerated. We present the energy scavenging method used to power the sensor nodes. We describe in detail the network module which performs the MAC and routing operation. We discuss the various features of the data compression engines which employs Haar wavelet transform to achieve data compression.
