Abstract :
The paper studies the effective core area, nonlinear index, dispersion coefficient, and BER characteristics of two kinds of RFA in a 40 Gbit/s WDM optical communication system. Each system has been optimized on the basis of emulation experiments using PTDS, which is a simulation platform for optical transmission system emulation. A comparison between two kinds of RFA is also made.
