Abstract
H.264/AVC standard employs some advanced technologies that can provide high coding efficiency to reduce the video bit-rate. This paper presents an effectively adaptive group-of-picture (AGOP) coding control for H.264/AVC system based on the temporal correlation. We efficiently estimate the parameter of temporal correlation and to decide the quantization scale. The I-frame is adaptively replaced by enhancement P-frame to improve the coding efficiency when the temporal correlation is high. For high-motion sequences, we can fast track the quantization scale for each frame to reduce the quality deviation of inter-frames. Simulation results shows that the proposed algorithm can achieve the improvement about 2.195dB PSNR in average compared with the original H.264/AVC reference software JM10.1.
