Abstract
An optimized design procedure for UWB link is developed by accounting for dispersive properties of antennas loaded by transceiver front-ends. First, it is demonstrated how both the antennas and transmitter/receiver circuits affect collectively link merits like gain flatness, group delay and gain-bandwidth product. Then, solutions are proposed to deal with this problem in a practical design. The basic results are numerically illustrated in normalized form for links with canonical omnidirectional dipoles while the developed methodology can be applied to other antenna geometries
