Abstract :
A method of estimating the angle of arrival of a signal at an array antenna in a strong mainbeam interference environment is outline. The development is based on a maximum likelihood estimator and leads naturally to adaptive sum and difference beams which null the strong main beam interference. A measurement of the interference covariance matrix is presented in this paper. And an angle-scan algorithm, which has two principles, is shown to perform well in the presence of main beam interference with the experimentally derived data.
