Abstract :
Insulators in coastal substations are polluted by wind from the seashore which contains much salt. The insulator pollution causes flashover of substation equipment and results in power failures. Hence, polluted insulators are washed according to the decision making of engineers in substations. This study is aimed to develop a method of reliable automatic decision making for washing such polluted insulators. The proposed method consists of modeling pollution deposits and discriminant analysis by using the multi-dimensional normal distribution
