Abstract
Low-Earth-orbit satellite constellations such as Iridium will be integrated with terrestrial fixed and mobile networks for efficient resource utilisation and operational cost effectiveness. This paper presents a feasible architecture for the provision of GSM´s General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) over a LEO satellite network. A set of (voice and data) service classes with relevant grade-of-service and quality-of-service requirements is then defined. Based on this set of classes, a scheme for dynamic bandwidth (channel) allocation and call admission control is described and its performance evaluated
