Abstract :
Libraries are facing many challenges by ICT and digital revolution. The role of library professionals is also changing: they act as cybrarian instead of librarians. Librarians are playing integrated roles beyond their traditional jobs. In this paper, we discuss the impact of IT on requirements for librarian jobs in the digital age by analyze librarian employment ads to reveal: What are educational backgrounds required or librarian positions? What are the most common job titles for librarian positions? What implication will outcome of this study provide for LIS education in China? The analysis of librarian employment advertisements will be valuable to library educators in understanding current and emerging staffing patterns and designing effective curricula in China.
