Abstract :
A numerical formulation for scattering from a 2D cylinder for both TM and TE incident fields is presented. A surface conduction current on the inner conducting cylinder and an electric polarization current in the dielectric material are considered. A set of E-field integral equations is developed by applying the boundary conditions on the conducting surface and in the dielectric layer, which are then solved by the method of moments to find the unknown currents. The scattered field is assumed to originate from the current; thus, it is readily determined and compared with the exact solution, and excellent agreement is found. The formulation can be applied to an arbitrarily thick dielectric layer. Moreover, it can solve the scattered field for a multilayer coating. By considering the polarization of the dielectric, the effects of surface wave excitation are automatically included in the formulation. Numerical results are presented.<>
