Abstract :
A new type of antenna fed by a monolithic planar transmission line is presented. The antenna is formed as a resonant slot loop which is fed by a recently introduced microshield line. The design offers low spurious radiation from the feed line and low-loss power transmission in the feed network. The antenna design is applicable at frequencies in the millimeter and sub-millimeter wavelength region using thin dielectric or membrane technology. The predicted radiation pattern at resonance and input impedance as a function of frequency demonstrates the performance of the new antenna.<>
