Abstract :
An acquisition system for a hybrid frequency hopped direct sequence spectrum communication link is proposed and its performance in the presence of multitone jamming is analysed. Given a certain power, the multitone jammer can optimise its effectiveness by varying the number of jammed hop slots. It is shown that the number of jamming tones which results in the poorest acquisition performance increases with J/S. From the communicator´s point of view, it is shown the number of hop slots which results in the best anti-jam capability against such multitone jamming depends on the maximum J/S the link is designed to withstand
