Abstract :
Efficiency improvement of dye-sensitized solar cell was conducted in terms of increasing light harvest efficiency of dye-coated TiO2 photoelectrode. To increase light harvest efficiency, light confined effect by light scattering TiO2 particles was applied. TiO2 pastes for photoelectrode were composed of mixture of TiO2 particles of 20-23nm, 50nm and 100 nm in average diameter with different ratios. TiO2 particles of 50nm and 100nm were mainly used for light scattering for incident light. By utilizing the four-layered TiO2 photoelectrode prepared from four different pastes, solar energy conversion efficiency improved up to 10.3% and 10.5% in N719 dye and Black dye cell with 5mmtimes5mm, respectively, under AM1.5, 100mW/cm2. Then, influence of cell size and cell shape on efficiency was studied in size from 5mmtimes5mm up to 10cmtimes10cm size. A good efficiency of 8.4% was obtained by a silver-grid current-collecting 10cmtimes10cm-size Black dye-sensitized TiO2 solar cell
