Abstract
This paper provides effective schemes of global rate-distortion optimization for error resilient H.264 video transmission over wireless IP networks. A three-state Markov model is proposed to match wireless IP channels. It proposes per-pixel recursive computation to adaptively estimate the channel distortion. It introduces error drift weights to integrate into the distortion both temporal and spatial error propagations. Simulations demonstrate the considerable improvements in reconstructed image quality.
