            Abstract : 
Using vibration for visualization is a promising research area. This paper investigates the foundation of vibration for visualization, by constructing and evaluating different vibration magnitude models. To establish a vibration foundation, a three-component procedure, composed of an amplitude experiment, a frequency experiment and the mathematical construction, is presented to construct vibration magnitude models. The method option for the frequency experiment is discussed by comparing models I with II. Then a magnitude estimation & intramodal matching B-spline model customised for a PHANToM device is built and evaluated.
