Abstract :
Summary form only given. The use of computer technology in medicine is proliferating. This is exemplified by the current trends and visions in telemedicine. This lecture presents a discussion of some of the current activities and services contemplated in upcoming years, and some of the signal processing challenges associated with bringing these visions to fruition. Specific topics include home health care examinations, teleradiology, telesurgery, computer-aided diagnoses, and compression and transmission of medical image data.
