Abstract :
The concept of multiple trellis-coded modulation (MTCM) is extended to frequency- and phase-modulated (FPM) signal sets. A significant improvement is observed in the performance for AWGN and fading channels when compared to MTCM of MPSK signal sets. For values of the fading parameter used, the performance on the fading channel is guided by the length and distance of the shortest error event path.<>
