Abstract :
Optic time domain reflectometers are intended for measurement of parameters which characterize the radiation spread in a fibre optical line. That is the distance to the place of heterogeneity (damage) in the fibre and also attenuation of optical radiation in optical fibres. The main working principle of an optical time domain reflectometer is determination of optical fibre characteristics by the measured back distance. The main advantage of measurements by the back distance is that they demand access only to one end of fibre link
